Website Design:: Which Website?
Basic, Static, Content Managed, E-Commerce - Which is the right one for you?
Online Sales
If you wish to sell your product(s) online, then you should choose to have an E-Commerce or Online Shop solution. These make the job of managing your products and customer database very easy.
An alternative is to use a Content Managed site to manually enter your product list (for instance, if you have only a few products that are quite specific) - and then provide a contact page whereby people can get in touch with you to order the items and arrange payment. You could update this as often as you would like.
Web Presence
Gone are the days when most people search through the classifieds section of the evening paper, or spend ages trying to track down the correct service in the paper edition of the Yellow Pages. Today, the internet is the main marketing arena, and if you do not have a site on the world-wide-web, then you are potentially missing out on a very powerful way to attract new customers.
If all you require is a simple advertisement, and information site - you could either opt for the Basic or Static webpages depending on whether or not you wish to provide detail about your services.
You may also want to allow people to contact you via e-mail, in which case the Static site would be ideal. If however you wish to update your site often (for instance, if you want to let people know of the latest news, jobs, changes etc) - then opting for the Content Managed solution could be the smarter choice. There is no limit on the number of changes you can make to a content managed site - it is really up to you.
Business Calendars, Management
If you require a more business facing website, to handling your calendars or internal networked based websites that would be available to your company and no-where else, you will be looking for a bespoke business solution.
